An Intimate Wedding at The Attic at Waterman’s
This wedding at The Attic at Waterman’s was my slice of pie for the year! The people there were so great to work with and the venue itself was beautiful. Amelia and Jason planned the perfect wedding party for the space – and yes, it was a PARTY! These guys had two local bands play at their reception and the night was so much fun, I didn’t even feel like I was working at all! I absolutely couldn’t have asked for a more exciting wedding to photograph.
Amelia and Jason wanted to have some outdoor photos before their indoor wedding, and opted to do a first look on the grounds at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. It worked exactly as they had planned. And this was the sweetest first look – they were both bundles of nerves before we got together and the moment when they first saw each other was perfect. Family portraits were a breeze – and the couples’ portraits are some of my favorite from the year. Between their ideas and mine, we didn’t waste any time getting amazing shots.
The wedding ceremony was short and sweet, with close family and friends nearby. We took a few minutes to get some portraits afterwards and the dinner guests at Waterman’s cheered the couple on through open windows as we passed through to the beach. (We even got to witness a fly-over by the Blue Angels!)
The reception had all the traditional events, like first dances, speeches, and a cake cutting. But after the formalities, it was time to PAR-TAY! With “The Double Shots” and “The Cody Austin Band” playing some of the best country songs, and Ty Street filling in with some awesome party music, everyone danced the night away – I even stayed late to hear the band play the rest of their set!
I would love to shoot a wedding at The Attic at Waterman’s again. I love the intimate feel, the beautiful wood décor, and that mirror makes some awesome photo opportunities. Not to mention the beach is right outside! Of course, the company often makes all the difference, and I wouldn’t have changed it that night for the world. Amelia and Jason have a beautiful relationship (you can read more here from there engagement session!) and I am so glad they chose me to photograph their wedding.
A lifetime of best wishes to you both!

Planning a small wedding? I’d love to chat with you! My most ideal clients are often those that want to focus on moments and intimacy, and they tend to spend more time and effort planning their party than they do on the decorations and details – Take a look at a few of my other intimate weddings from 2017:
