A Virginia Beach Farm Wedding | Danielle & Steve

A Virginia Beach Farm Wedding

I absolutely love that you can find anything in Virginia Beach. You’ve got the oceanfront, amazing restaurants, great shopping, beautiful event venues, and, yes, farms! This Virginia Beach farm wedding wasn’t on an actual working farm, but rather at a home snuggled right in between several farm plots and buildings. We missed harvest, so the fields were plowed, but we were still able to capture the beauty of the property. And there were chickens!! I seriously wanted everyone to hold a chicken for a photo – but I also didn’t want to stress the poor birds!

You may recall Danielle & Steve’s engagement session from early last spring where I mentioned that they were my biggest fans this year (well, last year now). I have had the best time working with them on their wedding and photography plans and I was ecstatic when we had such gorgeous weather on their wedding day. It wasn’t too hot, but it definitely wasn’t cold out and the lighting was beautiful, with just enough cloud cover to give a soft light to the ceremony and a golden hue to their portraits at sunset. Working together with Ashley from Soirees by Lauren, they timed everything perfectly and we got plenty of portraits before and after the ceremony.

Rev. Ken Lane officiated the ceremony (he’s my favorite by the way!). He always involves everyone and really makes the ceremony feel more intimate and emotional. And he gets great laughs too – which of course makes amazing photos! His wife also did Danielle’s hair and natural makeup, which turned out beautiful!

Steve’s face when Danielle walked up the aisle with her dad was just priceless. I don’t think his smile, or Danielle’s, could have gotten any bigger!  The whole day was just fun and exciting. We even had a good laugh during the speeches and cake-cutting when the lights kept going out (I think we were putting a little too much strain on the supply!). It just made it a little more exciting and memorable. Near the end of the party, it was noticed that there were still several bottles of champagne left – so what else was there to do with it than to spray each other??

What a fun wedding – I’m so glad you chose me to capture your memories! Best wishes for many, many PSU games together!
