Yorktown Beach Engagement | Whitney & Darryon

I love Yorktown Beach engagement sessions! That location has just tons of options for photos for any occasion, and I love all of the opportunities I found with these two.

Whitney & Darryon are one of my clients that had to reschedule their wedding because of COVID. I met them first almost a year ago when Whitney’s half-sister Suzanne referred her to me. I’ve known Suzanne for pretty much her whole life (she’s my nephew Scott’s cousin) and had no idea she had another sister! It was a great pleasure to meet her and she is just as sweet and kind as Suzanne!

Our Yorktown Beach engagement session started out near the American Revolution Museum where there are some great fields and trees. I knew I wanted to get trees for these two and this spot ended up being more perfect than I could have imagined! There was a spot where bamboo took up a whole chuck of the woods!! As soon as I saw it I was sooo happy! Whitney & Darryon were troopers too – we had to climb over a bunch of underbrush and fallen branches to get to it.

After we got that well deserved bamboo shot, we went ahead down to the beach area and continued there. It was a very overcast day, so I used a flash in some of their photos to create some sunshine effects (you wouldn’t have even known by just looking at the images!). This was the first time I had done that type of flash work, and I was very happy with the results.

Although I was really hoping we could see these two get married this year, I am so happy that they were able to reschedule. Now I can look forward to the Spring when they finally get to say “I do!”

I’d love to chat with you if you’re getting married! Couples are my favorite thing to photograph and I’d love to be able to capture your love on camera! Contact me today for availability.
