Virginia Beach Wedding Photographer | Niki & Josh’s Adventure Begins

Wedding Dreams

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day – the big, beautiful, flowing white dress, the beautiful flowers, the first kiss, the romantic first dance…BUT not every girl dreams of the same wedding. Some girls dream of romantic gestures and of being carried away in a white-horse drawn carriage. Others dream of a destination beach wedding in the tropics. Then there’s girls like Niki (and me!) who dream of a love so big that it surpasses those dreams of a magical fairy tale wedding and becomes something much more intimate.

A Backyard Wedding

I’ve said it several times before, I’m sure, but I LOVE the sense of togetherness created by an unrestricted, charming backyard wedding.  Niki and Josh’s wedding was nothing short of these things. They rented a home on Sandbridge, large enough for all of her family and friends. It was a perfect location for them. The colors were several shades of Royal purple, pink, and white – and that was the color of Niki’s dress (so unique!!). The home was decorated beautifully inside with home-made items and flower arrangements – a DIYer’s dream!

We started with a few “getting ready” shots of Niki and some of Josh and his groomsmen playing pool and enjoying the beautiful weather we had that day. Niki planned her timeline very well, so we had tons of extra time for all the little details throughout the house. Since they chose a first look, we found a shady spot on the front porch to start. They were too sweet seeing each other for the first time that day (even though they had been in the same house for hours!) and they never stopped smiling. We did a few portraits after that, and then did all of their wedding party photos before the ceremony so that the couple and the wedding party could begin enjoying themselves immediately after.

The ceremony was gorgeous!! The sun was in full glory, but we still were able to get some amazing shots of these two as their lives entwined before us. They shared their own personal vows (my favorite!), which of course brought tears to my eyes, as they almost always do! After a beautiful exit and sharing some tears and hugs with all of their guests, everyone shared a delicious home-made dinner, made a few toasts, and then the room was cleared for dancing and partying the night away!

The Honor

I am always honored to be hired by a couple for their wedding photography. It is by far one of the best compliments a photographer can receive. Niki and Josh’s wedding was no exception. These two came to me and knew immediately that they wanted to hire me – they loved my work and we definitely hit it off when we met for our initial consultation.  They have been wonderful clients from the very beginning. I wish them all the luck in their future together – I just know they will grow old with each other!
