“How did we get so lucky??” That was Jason’s comment on his and Amelia’s engagement photos he shared on Facebook.
These words mean the world to me as a photographer. But, these words mean so much more for them as a couple. They truly are lucky. In a city of almost a half a million people, they found each other by random chance. (Aren’t those the best “how you met” stories ever!?)
What’s even more lucky is that they fell in love – and it is a love you can really see when they are together. The way their eyes sparkle when they look at each other; the way their bodies relaxed so comfortably into each others arms – It was so easy to get these intimate moments on camera. There wasn’t a moment of feeling uncomfortable – every pose seemed completely natural to these two.
The Engagement Session
They chose First Landing State Park (the part on 64th street) for their engagement session. I was worried because it was muggy and hot, but once the sun got closer to the horizon, the weather was pretty tolerable (I was sweating a lot more than they were!). We spent most of our time in the trees draped in Spanish-moss, but got a few sand photos on the inlet too. The sun was in the perfect place for some beautiful, soft images and the sunset produced a beautiful pink-orange hue that I used to make some amazing silhouettes!
Sometimes I wonder if I’m not the lucky one? I sometimes can’t believe that I deserve all of the amazing clients I get. Amelia and Jason are no exception. I’m so glad to have met them! I also found out later that they are friends with another wedding client of mine for this fall (Danielle and Steve even had their engagements in the same spot!) – and neither of them knew until after they had both hired me. Despite this ever-growing area known as Hampton Roads, there is a world that is much smaller than you realize!
If you love these images, check out a few more of my sessions from First Landing State Park!
