There is something very special about an intimate wedding that hits me every time I attend one or photograph one. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a big wedding with all the frills just as much as the next girl, but that just doesn’t suit everyone’s budget, and sometimes it just isn’t what they want. I’ve had the honor of photographing several intimate weddings over the last 6 years, and I hope to do more and more.
Just the phrase “intimate wedding” brings visions of the closest friends and family surrounding two people in love, joining all of them together into one big family. Most of the time you have the bride and grooms parents and any children that the couple already has. Add a few close friends, and it’s a great time where everyone can feel relaxed and be with those they care the most about. To be a part of this day, and to be a witness to this new “family” that is being built, is a great honor.
That honor was radiant on this day in May when Lori and Steve professed and sealed their love on the beach in Sandbridge, surrounded by their children, friends, and close family. The ceremony was beautiful, and flawless, despite the strong winds. We had overcast skies with the threat of rain all day, but not one drop fell. The sound of the sea and wind offered a great background to the beautiful vows these two shared. Following their first kiss, we had plenty of time for some portraits before dinner, speeches, cake cutting, and the first dance! And, just before I was leaving, the sunset was blaring orange, perfect for a final shot for the night.
