Intimate Backyard Wedding in Chesapeake, VA
Have I mentioned before that I absolutely LOVE a beautiful, intimate backyard wedding? What make this one even more special, is that it was in one of my oldest friend’s backyard! When her brother and his long-time girlfriend decided to have a small wedding with family and friends and wanted to have their memories of the day captured, my friend quickly contacted me to help, and I was more than happy to be there.
I was so excited to be not only photographing a beautiful couple getting married with only their best of friends and family, I got to do it all back in my hometown in the Hickory area of Chesapeake. (Although it is not that far away, I don’t get back there often enough – and SO much has changed.) Seeing my friend and her family is always a pleasure – and it had been way too long since our last visit.
Tricia and AJ chose to have their intimate ceremony and party with some of my favorite colors – the colors of fall! We captured some sweet getting ready moments and all their fall-themed wedding decorations. I absolutely loved the jar for guests to “Leave their wishes” for the couple! But nothing beats the special altar that AJ made himself. He even carved their initials in one of the posts – one of the sweetest things I’ve seen at a wedding!
Their ceremony was just as an intimate backyard wedding should be – short and full of love and beautiful promises. After the ceremony, we found some great light to use for portraits and of course there were plenty of fall leaves for background. The sun coming through some of those trees was just amazing!
Re-visiting this wedding really makes me miss the intimate backyard weddings – and I can’t wait until we can get back to it!
