Engagement sessions are one of many of my favorite types of shoots. Not only do they give me a chance to get to know my wedding couples for the upcoming seasons, but I really love to capture all of the sweet emotions and moments that happen among newly engaged couples. I see so much love during these sessions that I can’t help but feel elated when I return home to my own love. It really is an honor to be able to be a part of how my couples will remember these days that are filled with hopes and dreams and desires.
Alex and Michelle were so sweet and considerate during their Fort Monroe engagement session. We spent a lot of time walking around to find good light and backgrounds, and they were completely ready and happy to try any idea I had for pictures. I really got to play a lot and get creative with them – all while being attacked by the Jurassic tiger-striped mosquitoes that frequent Fort Monroe! Luckily they were mostly on me and not on Alex and Michelle!
We started near the Case Mate Museum, and walked around the interior of the park. Then we wanted to try for some awesome sunset photos, so we ventured around to the Pier area near the Chamberlain. Unfortunately the sun wasn’t in the right position for the shot I wanted to get, but we still got some really cool ones on the Gazebo in the orange light of the setting sun. Then we hopped in our cars and drove to the entrance to catch the last little bit of sunset before the gorgeous sky darkened.
You can see in the photos how adorable these guys are together! There were tons of giggles and kisses – even non-prompted ones, and I LOVE those!! After the success we had at their Fort Monroe engagement session, I just know that we are going to make some amazing photographs together! I can’t wait to see them dressed and ready to marry their true love!
