Soooo….this post is going to be unique. Why? Because I am a terrible blogger. I just set out to create a blog for their Fort Monroe wedding and I realized that I NEVER posted Andrea & Jeremy’s engagements at Yorktown Beach from LAST fall. I’m kicking myself! Even though these both deserve their own posts, I’m going to combine them into this one. Be prepared for photo overload!
Engagement Session at Yorktown Beach
Andrea & Jeremy met with me last summer and we immediately hit it off. They are so laid back, relaxed, and just genuinely fun to be around. We had a great time finding new spots to use at Yorktown Beach – the cliffs near the picnic area are just gorgeous at golden hour! There were so many great shots from their engagement session that I really had a hard time picking the few to share here.
One of the key things that drew me to them is their love of the outdoors. Both avid 4-wheeler riders, they even made their grand getaway exit on one! They are also huge Dallas Cowboys fans, which is half of my family’s team (I actually don’t watch football – I know, I know, that’s un-American of me, but what can I say? I’m just not a sporty girl.) We made sure to grab a few shots of them sporting their Dallas gear near the end of their engagement session.
The Wedding Day
By far this was one of the most relaxed wedding days I’ve experienced. No one was stressed and there was plenty of time built into the timeline for everything. It was also at one of my favorite venues, Fort Monroe’s Paradise Ocean Club. Their deck platform on the beach is perfect for outdoor weddings. It has a gorgeous view of the mouth of the bay, rolling sand dunes, and palm trees. The inside of the venue is very versatile with a large dance floor and plenty of natural light coming in through the windows.
Following a short and sweet ceremony, we used the beautiful spring greenery in the front courtyard at Paradise Ocean Club for family portraits and some bride and groom portraits. We were timed up with the late afternoon sun, so we got some great airy light shots and a few high-contrast shots with the sun. We also got super lucky near golden hour. The sky was just gorgeous and we were able to recreate one of my all-time favorite photos from Fort Monroe on the dunes outside of the venue.
If you’re thinking of having a Fort Monroe wedding, either at Paradise Ocean Club, or one of the other beautiful venues at the park, get in touch! I often have specials running for Fort Monroe and other Hampton weddings. I’d also love to take your engagements at Yorktown Beach – I’ve recently found a bamboo “forest” to use and I LOVE it!
