Engagements at Yorktown | Erick & Emily

What a fun couple these two are! Erick and Emily decided to do their engagements at Yorktown Beach last month (with fall wedding season in full swing, I am just now getting air enough to blog their session!). We had a great time, especially since they brought along their fur-baby, Taser, who was not at all interested in me or the lovin’ that I offered him, but at least I got him to pay attention to the shutter on the camera, at least a few times!

We did a lot of walking (and hill-climbing!) for these engagements at Yorktown – my thighs were so sore the next day! – but it was so worth it! I found a few new favorite spots to visit, and we all got a good workout in. One of my favorite things to do is to catch the sunlight behind my subjects to create a beautiful golden glow, and the top of the hill at the end of Yorktown Beach was full of perfect sunlight to do this with. We also spent a little time on the beach in the tall grasses, and visited the pier closer to sunset.

You’ll also see that we did something different and exciting, halfway through, to really show Erick and Emily’s personality and favorite things – Piñata’s and the Red Sox! Yes, we busted a candy-filled piñata at Yorktown Beach. What’s even better, is that they are having several more piñata’s at the wedding next summer! That is going to be so much fun to photograph! They also wanted to represent their love for baseball with the whole family sporting Red Sox jersey shirts – although Taser wasn’t very interested in taking any more photos at that point, we still got a few great candid shots with him wearing his doggie jersey (red really is his color, lol!).

I’m so happy that these guys chose me, a fellow CNU grad, to capture these memories for them. I’m really looking forward to their Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort wedding – it’s going to be blast!
