Engagements at Fort Monroe | Melissa, Matt, and Sammie

If you haven’t noticed yet, I shoot a LOT of engagements at Fort Monroe. Why? Because there is always something different to shoot! The variety of locations, angles, lighting – it’s just perfect for photography. Of course, I tend to use many of the same spots for most sessions, but those are my absolute favorite ones when the light is just right.

Melissa contacted me for a mini-engagement shoot at Fort Monroe, and she wanted it soon. Luckily for both of us I had just had a cancellation for that weekend. And then I found out that Sammie was coming along too! A great-dane mix, Sammie was one of the larger dogs I’ve got to work with at engagement sessions – and he was soooo happy to be able to run around with his buddy (I always suggest bring a friend along to help with the pups during the couple-only photos).

Surprisingly, the weather was rather mild for late July. Matt chose a great bold burgundy shirt and Melissa’s dress was so adorable and perfect for a semi-fancy engagement session. Sammie, of course, adorned a red-brown leash and collar, along with a shiny stainless choker-chain.

This engagement session at Fort Monroe really got me excited to shoot more sessions there. I found so many beautiful spaces with the perfect light – all spots I can’t wait to visit again with the next couple!

Thanks Melissa, Matt, and Sammie for having me take these photos for you! Best wishes for a life-time of love!
