I am a photographer. When I see a beautiful photograph, I stop and admire everything about it. When I see amazing moments taking place in front of me, I want to remember them forever, as they are. And I want you to be able to remember them too! I want my photos to capture the entire feeling of a moment in a way that, when you look at them again, you are flooded with the emotions of that moment – that it brings you back to experience that joy over, and over again.
Although I love photographing families and children, I have found that my true joy behind the camera is capturing the emotions and excitement of a wedding day. Being able to experience two people’s love, on that most important day, and to capture these beautiful memories is an awesome honor. When I’m with my brides and grooms, I can’t help but get excited and nervous for them – I’ve even cried at a few ceremonies!
My style can be described two-fold. I would describe my posed images as “traditional, yet modern.” As a wedding photographer, the majority of the day is capturing events as they unfold. I am a true fan of the cliche “life is but a serious of moments” and that is how I see my photography. My goal as a wedding photographer is to capture the moments taking place in front of me in the way that it should truly be seen. I attempt to capture the right atmosphere and “feeling” within the photo that really shows the emotion of the moment.
I am originally from Hampton, Virginia and I have lived in Hampton Roads my entire life. I went to Hickory High School in Chesapeake and then moved back to the Peninsula to attend Christopher Newport University where I attained my Bachelor’s Degree, and then to Strayer University for my MBA in Human Resources. I’ve set my life up here and have a wonderful network of family and friends that make Hampton home. I started this business as a hobby and it has grown to be a very fulfilling career. I also work full time at a locally-owned engineering firm, editing and publishing complex reports for federal, state and municipal governments across the US.
I’ve been married twice and my second husband and I have been married since the summer of 2014 – I couldn’t be happier! He has also blessed me with a beautiful step-daughter that I love more than I ever thought possible to love someone.
What else can I tell you about myself? I’m a simple girl. My favorite outfit is a good pair of jeans, a t-shirt and Reef flip-flops, which I’ve worn for as long as I can remember. I love horror & sci-fi movies – the scary ones, not the gory ones (my favorite is Nightmare on Elm Street) – a joy I acquired from my Dad, who had me watching Poltergeist at 5-years old. I love the show Supernatural and Dean Koontz books. I really enjoy a nice cold beer or glass of white wine. I am glad to say that I am very optimistic, a trait that took me years to develop. I primarily listen to rock and reggae, but I’m a sucker for a good country love song! I’ve been to Virginia, North & South Carolina, Florida, Boston, California and Jamaica. I’d love to visit Italy, Ireland, and Scotland at some point in my life – but I’ll go almost anywhere I get the chance to go. Oh – and I almost forgot about my love of elephants – I even have one tattooed on my left wrist!
